Yaaay I'm so happy to be back in California! It's my mom and my college roommate May's birthday this weekend so I wanted to celebrate with them. I flew to SF and stayed at home for the night, and it was nice to see my mom for a day before flying down to Santa Monica on Friday for the rest of the weekend.
THE FOOD
SoCal has some of the trendiest restaurants in the country and also offers such a wide variety of food. My favorite restaurant from this weekend was Élephante Beach House, a popular oceanside rooftop bar and restaurant in downtown.
We went for brunch, and I got the Soft Polenta with crab, sweet corn, soft eggs, and herbs, which was so so yummy and surprisingly light. The view was beautiful, and this seems like a chill spot to relax on the weekends!
ACTIVITIES
One of things that I used to do quite often when I lived in California was go hiking, and I really missed it, so I was so glad when May suggested that we go! We went to Topanga State Park, a California state park located in the Santa Monica Mountains, the morning after May's birthday pregame. Because of the timing, we wanted to go on a chill and easy route and hike for maybe around one mile or so, but of course, knowing us, our hike ended up somehow becoming four miles lol.
NIGHT LIFE
May had a joint pregame at her apartment Friday night for her birthday and for a BC friend who had just left Oracle for a new job. It was such a fun time, and I loved getting to meet all of her new friends in Santa Monica! We went out to the Victorian afterwards, which I did not realize was an event venue that people can book for weddings until Googling it just now. The building with its patio and lawn is pretty big, and the late 19th century decor including antique furnishings and classical artwork throughout the house made this place a super interesting spot to go out! On Saturday night, May's boyfriend was going to Nameless Bar and Nightclub, a nightclub and bar and lounge that has made quite a name for itself in Santa Monica despite its name, for a friend's birthday, so we tagged along, which was fun!
OUTFIT DETAILS
I just got the Adalyn Espadrille Wedge Sandal from Marc Fisher in December, and since the weather in NYC isn't warm enough for me to wear them yet, I knew I had to bring them with me to Santa Monica! The leather and suede mixed media adds such a luxe touch to these retro-inspired espadrille wedge sandals. I decided to wear them with a white top and light wash jeans for a summery look!
