I received a complimentary UZ eye opening liner back in mid September and hadn't had a chance to try it out. I finally did, and here's my review!
I came across an Instagram ad offering a black eyeliner detailing some of the product's details but without much information about the brand behind it. I like to try new makeup products, and who doesn't love free things, so of course, I signed myself up!
The eyeliner is from UZ, a brand started by Flowfushi, a Japanese beauty brand with Tokyo-based founders, and it appears like I came across the eyeliner as part of their viral Unframe the Beauty marketing campaign.
I love the cat-eye look and have been doing it for awhile now (but have been toning it down at work lol) using mostly liquid eyeliner pens. I typically use the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (satin black), which I can easily pick up at Sephora for $20.
I've been on the hunt for cruelty-free brands and products, and was excited to see that this eyeliner is cruelty-free. It's also pretty cool that this product is also vegan and hypoallergenic, which is important for me since I have pretty sensitive skin. The pen itself is much heavier than most I've tried; it didn't bother me much, but something I definitely noticed.
Overall, I really enjoy the intensity of this liquid eyeliner, and the precise brush tip based on the traditional Japanese brush was right up my alley. The formula is highly pigmented and smudge-resistant for an all-day-long wear that stays put. Just see my post on my reindeer look from SantaCon if you don't believe me! It was surprisingly warm that day, and I was wearing the onesie, and I thought my makeup was going to melt off my face, but we were a-okay.
I have yet to see the NYC Flagship store but am looking forward to checking it out now!
