I have always loved perfume because of the way the scents can evoke memories and remind me of a certain place, person, or thing. I think it's so interesting that I associate the fragrance that I am choosing to wear at a certain time period with where I am as a person at that point in my life. I am definitely someone who likes to have a signature scent that I want myself to be associated with but will also pick a fragrance depending on the occasion.
I actually didn't really start regularly wearing perfume until later in college, and the process of trying different perfumes to see which one fit me and conveyed how I wanted people to see me was very interesting. I ended up falling in love with the Valentino Donna fragrance because the bottle was so beautiful and looked expensive, and the scent made me feel very elegant and feminine.
I've since branched out and tried new brands but haven't found a new signature scent yet. This year, I've received a lot of perfume samples from Macy's through SoPost and Yves Saint Laurent that they send in the mail, so I decided to do a review of my favorites of the latest perfumes I've received and tried!
MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE PERFUME: Valentino Donna
Before we dive into the new fragrances, I wanted to talk about my favorite perfume first, so y'all can get a sense of the scent types I prefer. I love floral scents, and like I mentioned earlier, this one is my go-to! I first bought this perfume for myself years ago as a treat (I was a college student, and it's quite expensive!) because of the beautiful packaging, and I was really into the pink and gold aesthetic. The scent is strong but not overpowering and stays on all day. I was looking for a fragrance that is elegant for everyday wear yet sexy, and THIS WAS IT. The scent is just so special!
This perfume from Bulgari is a classic floral scent that is feminine, elegant, and delicate. It smells of roses and is long-lasting and leaves an impression without being overpowering.
I have had my eye on this perfume for awhile, so I was thrilled when I received a sample! I didn't know much about Carolina Herrera before this perfume came out and honestly was drawn to this because of its name and beautiful midnight blue stiletto heel packaging. Good Girl is inspired by the ever-present duality of modern women and modern life, and I love the warm floral scent that is both bright and feminine and dark and vibrant.
This floral fragrance based on Good Girl is so feminine as well, and the scent is a bit sweeter. Although I prefer the original, which smells a bit darker and more alluring, this perfume is unique and subtly sexy.
La Panthere from Cartier is a floral fragrance that is elegant and great for everyday wear but would suit an older crowd in my opinion.
Like all CHANEL fragrances, the CHANCE Eau du Parfum is a classy scent. I love the fresh floral scent and was happy to see that just a couple of spritzes will last all day. The smell is so long-lasting that it will still linger on the clothes I was wearing (like a jacket or scarf)!
I love the warm floral scent of Miss Dior and how feminine it is, but it's definitely a full-bodied fragrance that's on the stronger side so might not be something you fancy if you're looking for a lighter scent. This is another perfume with one of the best longevities in my opinion.
Donna Karan Cashmere is inspired by the feel of cashmere upon a woman's skin, and the luxurious scent evokes this feeling! I like this floral fragrance for the same reasons that I like the Valentino Donna. It's definitely on the sweeter side and a bit muskier.
I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a sample of this perfume because it's a brand that just isn't on the radar for most people around my age. I used to love Coach back in middle and high school because of how beautiful and high-quality their leather bags and shoes are but have never tried any of their fragrances! I greatly enjoyed the light floral scent and think that it would be perfect for spring and summer.
Inspired by glamorous nights of dancing til dawn, the new Jimmy Choo Fever perfume reflects a fun night out with a scent that's luxurious, mysterious, and hypnotic. The scent is fruity and floral with a bit of a musky undertone.
Ah what a throwback to my middle school days! Every girl in our small suburban town loved Juicy Couture, and I was always so bummed that my parents would never buy me anything from them because they thought their products were too expensive for someone my age, so I was very excited to try this. The warm floral scent is so beautiful. Although it's definitely targeted towards millennials, it's not as overpowering as I remembered it being, so I can see an older audience also liking it!
Daisy is a fruity floral scent that's fresh and playful, and I know a ton of girls my age who love this scent as one of their go-to's, but I'm just not a huge fan. I love floral scents but just don't like this one that much because it just smells a bit outdated to me.
This fragrance is sweet and sensual but not overpowering so I can see people wearing this during the day at the office although I personally wouldn't. It reminds me of the beach and would be great for the summer.
My dad wore Ralph Lauren Men's Polo Eau de Toilette Spray when I was growing up, and it's a true classic. This fragrance is probably for an older crowd but is certainly a reminder of the timeless essence of the Ralph Lauren brand. The floral scent is clean and long-lasting.
I decided to try this perfume because the original Valentino Donna is my all-time favorite perfume! The scent is sweet and a combination of fruity/woody and smells smokier than the more floral Valentino Donna.
I like the fresh, vibrant floral scent of this perfume, but I don't love it. Although ever since I started wearing it occasionally, I can recognize the smell and can tell that a lot of ladies close to my age wear this as their signature scent.
This beautiful perfume is elegant yet fun. This strong and rich floral scent smells amazing and is one that is definitely timeless!
I was very skeptical of this perfume because I just didn't like the name that much, but boy, did YSL really catch me off guard with this one! The scent is SO seductively intoxicating and highly addictive. The warm fragrance just draws me in, and I just want to keep smelling it!
The YSL Libre is ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE FRAGRANCES!! I love floral scents, and this one is so sexy and unique with a bit of a musky undertone. I've worn this to work before, but I think it's a bit more fitting for the nighttime. I only have to wear a little (just two or three sprays) and it'll still last all night!
Surprise, surprise...this is yet another YSL fragrance that I just absolutely can't get enough of! The scent combines fruity notes with musky undertones and is so lovely and sophisticated. It's perfect for both day and night.
Let me know which of these fragrances have caught your eye, and which one was your favorite if you've tried any of them!
