I used to have really bad acne especially in my T-zone all the way up until freshman year of college, but thankfully, my skin has mellowed out since then. I have combination skin, which means I would try to avoid putting acne treatment products all over as it can dry my face out. I still occasionally get the one-off acne in between my eyebrows, nose, or chin though so definitely still like to keep treatments for breakouts handy.
I recently came across a free sample of Clinique's Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel, a topical treatment which advertises results as good as a leading prescription that starts working instantly, in an Instagram ad.
The highlighted ingredients include salicylic acid and acetyl glucosamine to help clear dead skin cells that can contribute to clogged pores. It also has lamincaria sacharina extract, which minimizes shine and fights the appearance of future breakouts, and witch hazel, which helps de-shine skin’s surface and tighten pores. The product is free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, and phthalates and is also gluten-free. This daily treatment gel is fitting for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types, which is perfect for me. It's supposed to start clearing blemishes upon application and helps prevent new ones from making an unwelcome appearance.
I like that the product is a lightweight gel! If you have acne-prone skin with persistent breakouts, you can use it all over, but I typically only use it as a spot treatment. You can find it at Macy's for $27!
